Canberra Olympic Pool Refurbishment

Please note: it is anticipated that the Pools will now be re-opening from Monday November 17

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the refurbishment of Canberra Olympic Pool is almost complete and the centre will re-open from Monday 17^th November 2008.

This has been an exhausting process and I wish to personally thank you for you patience during this difficult period. The works undertaken during this time have been significant and include;

• replacement of the entire ‘dome’ structure
• replacement of any broken pool tiles in the main pool
• dive pool, toddler pool and main pool all re-painted including new line markings in main pool
• upgrade to boiler to provide a constant pool water temperature
• re-painting of the entire interior and exterior of the building
• change rooms painted, new tap ware, tiles re-grouted
• new diving boards and starter blocks
• towers re-painted
• non-slip matting installed on towers

This represents an expenditure of more than $2 million and returns the centre to the level of presentation and operational efficiency you as a member deserves.

Leisel Jones at Canberra Olympic Pool

Our focus is now on informing the Canberra community that its business as normal at  Canberra Olympic Pool and to highlight this point an open day has been scheduled for Sunday 14^th December 2008. Australian Olympic swimmer Leisel Jones will be in attendance during the day and any child enrolled in learn to swim at Canberra Olympic Pool before her visit will have the chance to be part of a swimming lesson given by Leisel on the day.
